Unlikely

My summer has been so busy and lazy somehow at the same time. It sounds weird, but it makes sense in my head. Sometimes I have so many things to do and places to go to, and other times I can just sleep in and do whatever I want.

Two weeks ago, I had a packed schedule in Tennessee, my main responsibility being to lead a bible study for middle school girls. The youth group from my church back in Birmingham went to Student Life Camp to learn about how God used David, the unlikely king of Israel, and how God can use us too.

God worked in so many incredible ways throughout the week. There are too many to tell everything about them here, but one thing I thought about a lot was the contrast between this year and last year, which was my first time leading a group at Student Life Camp. I was so nervous about leading a bible study by myself, but God proved his faithfulness and strength for me by the end of the week, which pointed me back to the theme of camp, "Take Heart". As it says in John 16:33, we can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. During the first week of this June, God reminded me countless times of how things are so different. I have found confidence in the ability God has given me to lead and share the gospel with others. I have become more content with being the leader who is not the loudest and most extraverted. I am there for the quiet and introverted students, because that was me in middle and high school. I can be their friend when things are chaotic. The theme for this year was "Unlikely". I seem to be an unlikely leader, yet God still has plans for me to lead so that others might know His love and grow closer to Him.

I had such a precious group of girls in my group. We had many laughs and good discussions. They had great questions and comments to share. Their energy was seemingly endless, but it encouraged me and inspired me, rather than simply tiring me out. Yes, I was exhausted by the end of the week, but there is

something so sweet about spending time in God's word with friends who seek to honor the Lord. Something about dancing and worshipping the Lord with friends that brings me joy. It was so wonderful to be able to get away from the everyday things to worship the Lord with friends, old and new.

"But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.' " 1 Samuel 16: 7

God can use the unlikely to lead others to Him.

Another thing is that the worship sessions were awesome! And I have this weird obsession with playlists... so I made one with the songs we sang at Student Life Camp! Here it is so you can listen to the worship songs that inspired our discussions and took part of what God did throughout the week!

Student Life Camp 2022// Unlikely

One thing my girls and I talked about was God's incredible creation. What is the one thing about creation that always amazes you and shows you God's glory and power? For me, it's the sky: the sunrises, sunsets, and clouds. They leave me speechless. I love the colors and the details... Comment below your thoughts! I'd love for you to be a part of the conversation!
